The Kingfisher in Taiwan commonly lives below an altitude of 1200 meters in streams or ponds. When hunting for food, it prefers to perch on rocks on the banks, on tree branches, or on bamboo shoots in the water, watching small fish swimming in the water, looking for opportunities to plunge vertically into the water to catch its prey. The often-seen male Kingfisher, after quickly hunting for food, uses it to please the female or to feed the young birds. Especially before and after hunting for prey, the proud and independent posture, the focused look in its eyes, combined with the chirping sound it makes while fetching food in flight, always gives people a sense of vigor and the feeling of being on the brink of action.
